Hello

I've got my iPhone 5S' replaced multiple times, and they always tell me not to put in you Nano SIM card at the Apple Store, wait 20 min after it's on, then put in your SIM card.

Has anyone ever heard of this?

I wonder if it works on locked phone replacements.

I guess when you get a replacement for a locked phone they put in the SIM card and turn it on for you, without telling you this.

What a strange set up!

The one time I had to get an iPhone replaced I inserted the SIM card on the spot into my unlocked iPhone and it remained unlocked. Apple either gives you an unlocked phone or not. Timing of inserting your SIM card makes no difference.

Locked iPhone replacements in USA are initially unlocked for T-Mobile and AT&T GSM networks only. Other SIM cards would not work only T-Mobile and AT&T. As soon as you do factory reset or restore they will relock to its carrier, either T-Mobile or AT&T.
