The purpose of this thread is to feed the addiction of Mac Rumors members who absolutely must crawl this site. Think of this thread as earplugs and blinders. Or maybe prison until you see the event.
More than that, it's a way to get access to the keynote video once Apple posts it, without having to navigate through pages that may contain spoilers to get there.

Honest question: what does this thread provide you with, then? It seems to me if I can't watch the video live, then I will watch it when I get the chance. Why does this thread even exist? (yes I can appreciate the irony of me posting here)

If you're asking about he thread specifically, I think its just a byproduct of the Page 2 story.

If you're asking about why go spoiler free... Every year people come into this thread and seem completely confused and dumbfounded by the concept of spoiler free. Its not for everyone but I personally have been spoiler free since forever (since apple started posting videos of announcements). For me it is a tradition now but it stemmed from the fact that Apple (used to) put so much effort into the presentation - there would often be genuine surprises (one more thing) and dramatic reveals and things like that. I prefer to get the "experience" from Apple first hand before being inundated with the media coverage. Like I said its tradition now and I'm still hoping for that "one more thing" that no one was expecting again...

I've had this thread open when I can't watch live. And I can never fight the temptation of checking on what announcements come out. But thank you MacRumors for the opportunity of having no spoilers. I'm trying again this year..

Stay strong.

Yup, just finished, I'm now here waiting for the spoiler free link, don't want to see the news!!

So far on Apple's website, this is all I see:

"Video replay of today’s event will be available shortly."
