Not for my phone but I use it for some accessories that need one like my wireless mouse.Who still uses a 5 watt charger? 😁
You also see news reports of these no name brands catching houses on fire too.. lol. It's my last-resort charger, but I would never pay the Apple tax for such a basic item - you find no-brand ones for $3-5 everywhere.
When traveling light and relying on overnight charging, small size trumps all. Although the US one pictured here is kind of blocky. The EU one is more slick. Why does this thing still exist at all?
Agreed, charging circuits have evolved and all but slow is ideal for an overnight charge. When my wife and I upgraded from our 7/8 plus models we didn't replace the charger. These still work great, and better yet they didn't end up tossed in an overflowing junk drawer or in a landfill.Slow charging and it goes not over-heat the iPhone. To this date, I still use it daily on my iPhone 13 Pro Max.
I use two 5W for overnight charge both my wife iPhone 13 and my iPhone 13 Pro. My Pro for 8 months still has 100% battery. No heat! Works perfectly!Who still uses a 5 watt charger? 😁
Same here maybe they will become a collectors item loli have so many of these in my drawer from a decade+ of ipads and iphones in the family
why do you leave a charger for your ex near your bed?(near bed for ex)
Doesn't matter how slow it is if you charge overnight. It's always going to be full when you wake up in the morning.I charge my iPhone, iPad, AirPod Pros and MacBook Air with my 30W charger. I dread to think how slow charging would be on a 5W charger.
Fair point. I have a pretty unpredictable sleep schedule, and I also like to go to sleep listening to music, which makes charging it hard. I have a MagSafe wireless charger I should probably put next to the bed.Doesn't matter how slow it is if you charge overnight. It's always going to be full when you wake up in the morning.
See my follow-up post. The impact of fast charging on the Battery is minimal, its more about your charging habits. You are out here claiming fast charging damages the battery when its only somewhere around 15 Watt. There are 125 Watt mobile chargers out there. Go educate them and tell em how they should all use 5 watt chargers for their phone.Another opportunity to educate someone! Your fast charger is like holding a sponge up against a fire hydrant, where your phone is the sponge. The phone does not overcharge, but apple has absolutely responded to folks request for faster charging speeds at the cost of battery longevity. It is simply much better to use a lower power charger overnight, if you can spare the time it takes. If you don't care about battery replacements, then of course your calculus is different and more power to ya!
I stopped using one of these chargers years ago, but I know plenty of people who still use them. It seems to be the one people have laying around or just readily available.Good for you. Yet you are one of the very few, this charger has become obsolete years ago.

So you only allow yourself to use 60% of your battery capacity? This is where I disagree with you on this matter. Letting your battery go below 20% and then charging it using a slow charger past 80% causes much more saturation to the battery, than keeping it in the range between 20% and 80% using a fast charger.
