I am sorry for my overgeneralization. I have never heard of your condition, but I can see where augmented reality in eyeglass lenses would help your situation. I do wonder, though, if so-called smart glasses could ever be mass market products. It goes back to the health issue, which was part of the article. Would smart glasses end up being more of a medical device or suitable for other specialized uses that few "mainstream" users would ever buy? My post is more of a lament that the tech industry keeps trying to find new product categories to keep their growth going into the future, and each new category I hear about in recent years actually seems to repel me, and makes me not want to go near them. I am happy with my smart phone, iPad and Windows laptop. I don't want tech to take over the rest of my life, nor am I excited about "A.I". I am an engineer approacing retirement and I have followed this industry since I was in my 20's, and at this stage of my life, I am losing my enthusiasm for new tech.Well, maybe. I'm pretty severely face blind and just don't recognize people. This can be really difficult. Having a name appear when the glasses recognize someone would be kind of cool in some situations (like trying to watch TV). Or at least relieve the burden from my very close friends who are constantly whispering names in my ear.
I, like you, am loathe to wear tech like this. It is legit creepy (and I'm not eager to wear mass produced frames). It's hard to deny the utility of such a thing though.
