it took steve jobs 15 years to rebuild trust to the apple brand.

Tim cook also called the "cupertino liberal accountant" is completely inadequate to run a tech company.

They could hire more geniuses. No?

If only it was so simple. My store is so full you can hardly find a place to stand without getting whacked by rucksacks and pushchairs. Even if they could employ another 50 genii in the next week, there is nowhere for them to work. Building a new store takes months, years even until they can find a larger/extra place to take over.

We have another store nearby about 15 mins away, which is also full, but a lot of people moan its to far away to goto. Maybe the solution isnt larger stores, but lots of small ones (thinner ones )

Repairs? Surely this is a joke; Apple Fanboys tell us multiple times hourly that Apple Cr@p is perfect so someone is lying. Perfect Cr@p doesn't need repairing by definition of "perfect."

Meanwhile they removed the ability to make appointments using the Store app on your iPhone/iPad. (That was a while ago but they did so quietly). It was so convenient, so My guess is that they hoped it would reduce the number of appointments made, reducing load on the Genius Bar

It seems strange that Nextbyte here in perth closed mostly due to getting people into the city, then i hear APP stores elsewhere seem to be ok..

Must be an Oz thing.

I would have actually not supported third party repairers..... After these services do not re-validate the Touch ID, so u now have to visit an Apple store anyway, and yet Apple still supports third party repairs...

For convenience only, but isn't this just a ticking time bomb waiting to explode?

Hopefully this is a better experience. Wasn't too long ago that to schedule a Genius Bar appointment you had to wind your way through a maze if you didn't have it bookmarked or know the quickest way to get there.

Apple's new focus on third-party service providers may provide some much-needed relief for Apple retail stores that are unable to keep up with repair requests ...

Because there are just that many more customers and products—or a higher percentage of new products requiring repair?

So can we trust 3rd party repair store ? Are their parts and skill on par with Apple store ?

If you have AppleCare Protection and a Desktop Mac, they will send someone to your house.

True, or at least was.

I'm now reminded of years ago when I lived out in the middle of nowhere in terms of such service, and Apple had an independent tech come to the house to service a desktop unit, a near top of the then line tower. In terms of driving time alone it would have taken this person hours round trip.

I also recall schlepping that tower unit myself far off for service, come to think of it. Do not recall the particulars now, other than I did. So suppose there were limits to Apple's generosity. BTW, despite these hiccups and ongoing afterword I considered that a reliable computer.

But at least on one occasion service meant service.

I called a number of these third parties to see about my 6S battery replacement (I have a winner!) and they all said they couldn't do the battery replacement and would have to ship it in to get it replaced. Same day service? No. A week to get an Apple Store appointment, at a mall which is always fun around the holidays.

And to be clear, I live in the Silly-con Valley, so you'd think the third parties could handle a simple battery replacement. *I* could handle a battery replacement, just wouldn't be under warrantee!

So brought phone to Apple Store last night (1-hr round trip errand) only to have the Genius tell me they will order a new battery and call me when it's in so I can have it replaced. Such SERVICE! Why they couldn't save me this trip is beyond me. Luckily, my phone still works.

This is the third time this month Apple has failed me (1st: $4600 MBP 15" had graphical glitch, back it went; 2nd: FCP said it had imported all my footage, but when I wiped the card it FCP said it couldn't process the footage. Footage lost.) I am no longer a "fanboy" and will not be buying anything else without serious reservations. All of my (many) computers and phones have been Apple for the last 15 years.

Did you check to make sure they had a battery in stock before going? Did you ask to have the entire phone replaced?

Sometimes better. Many AASPs I know employ technicians that have been repairing Apple hardware for 10, 20 or more years and have the skills to match. The replacement parts are the same as those supplied by the Apple Store.
How extensive are the repair operations that these AASPs are allowed to perform? Anything beyond swapping out a screen on an iPhone or a motherboard on a macbook?

The AASP I work for does all the same repairs an Apple Store does except iPhone displays, plus more options such a data recovery and onsite services.
