And sadly, a lot of people (90% ?), time and time again (no matter how badly they are let down), would still rather pay $100 less for something that doesn't work, than pay $100 more for something that does.
You are acting like I buy anything Microsoft, which in fact I own an xbox, and that's it.

Who in their right mind likes, or thinks, WinMo is a good OS. Its terrible, Microsoft knows its terrible...

And I don't know what you have against animations, their concept ideas. That's all either of these products are right now, concepts. I'll believe either one when I see the production working model.

I don't care what there past is. Their concept has my interest over Apple's concept. I like the idea of a digital journal way more than what I've heard from Apple. So until I see or hear something that seems actually revolutionary about Apple's tablet (even just a concept drawing, animation, theory), and I'm hoping I do, I'm still impressed with the concept of the Courier.

There's something mind-feckingly wrong with this post.

Point it out...

Concept vs. Concept neither one of them has an actual project here. They both have been working on it, and personally, even if its just an animation, I like the concept of the Courier over the concept of the Apple Tablet.

Why a tablet like this is needed?

Last night I was delivering newspapers to the local carriers. As I get to the first drop ABC News breaks in to the broadcast on the station I was listening to and announces that a car full of explosives were found on the side of the road in(I forget where). So then, I get out of the vehicle and deliver the now out of date content to the carriers. *sigh* the Newspaper Business.

I have seen a dramatic decline in how many newspapers are printed every night. The newspaper companies are losing the fight against 24 hour news coverage. You also have Generation X turning to the internet to get news and opinions.

This transition from Print to Electronic media has been happening for the past 10 years and no one has known it.

I eventually see a further breakdown of newspapers to just writers(down with editors) Where I can make a tailored made newspaper just for me. Every morning I want my front page to consist of X,Y,Z journalist.

Then there are the possibilities of implications on education.

Imagine walking in to a class and the teacher tells you to download your notes for the day, or having them pushed to your device as you walk in. Or signing in to take your test.

With Google Wave people in the class can collaborate on notes, presentations, and homework. Wisdom of the crowd.

Text book including informative videos that explain how X works. Instead of depending on the authors great, but confusing, Illustrations. Having that textbook with you wherever you go. So during down time you can study.

Your right LCDs are hard to read off of. But OLEDs have a high enough contrast ratio that it would be a lot easier on the eyes. http://www.sonyinsider.com/2009/01/14/contrast-the-sony-flex-oled-reader-of-the-future/

Not to mention we will never know what this monster will turn into once it is released. Look at Twitter and what they thought it would be and what is now.

With everything moving to the cloud and the new Light Peak technology this could be your only computer need(for the average consumer). You could theoretically hook an external display, keyboard and mouse to it and use it as a Dummy Terminal. I use my computer for little more than a portal to the internet; I upload all pictures to Flickr. Watch TV shows on Hulu. Edit word documents using Google Doc. What type of processing power is really needed to accomplish all of this?

I'm just saying you can try to pin down what you want this to be. You can move forward with a business plan on what type of content you want to deliver through it. But once its in the wild there is no telling what it will be used for.

Looking at the demos for the MSFT Courier tablet, it looks flat-out amazing and if MSFT can get it to market before the iPad(or whatever Apple will call their tablet), this could be a game-changer.
