This has all gotten so confusing.

You dropped your iPhone while it was in the Otterbox case. But you're asking if Apple will do anything. Yes, they will. A Genius will look at your phone. If you have Applecare+ the Genius will then sell you a new phone for $49. If you don't have Applecare+, the Genius will sell you a new phone for $199.

Neither Otterbox nor Apple make any promises that your phone won't get damaged if you drop it. A case MAY help protect it, but there's no guarantees. If you want to call Otterbox, go for it, but I doubt you'll get any help from them.

It will be a new phone, they don't have refurbs yet

How do you know that?

I exchanged my wife's 4S and it was more than likely a previously used phone. The Genius pulled it out of the box and handed it to me, the plastic wrap was covered in finger prints and dust UNDER the plastic against the glass. The rear plastic wasn't even on straight. I highly doubt the phone was brand new, never used - possibly a return but not brand new.

Besides, the phone has been out now for 6 weeks, that's AMPLE time for Apple to receive returns, put them through refresh steps and redistribute them as service units.

Seriously people, why are all of you assuming so much?

1. Apple still does replace cracked phones. Just be honest and try.

2. Stop assuming the OP didn't take responsibility for it and just answer his damn questions.

No one can say for sure. I have had a iPod Touch replaced that I cracked for free, he was a cool genius.

How about go to an Apple store and try. Report back here with the results. Nothing more needs to be posted until then.

because they won't have reurb phones circulating all across the country til january, take awile to get loads of phones returned, sent back to apple, fixed, checked and approved to be used as replacements. currently all replacements are new. Unless your city is the first city to get a used shipment.

I have a white 4s and I've had a otter box on since I got the phone the day it was released, and today I dropped it from about 3 feet off the ground on go the screen, and the bottom left of the phone got a tiny crack from it, I'm OCD about my phone. Will apple do anything?

Apple can't help with your OCD, owning Apple gear only makes it worse.

Here's my suggestion. Go to an Apple Store and talk to them. Be honest and be NICE!:)

I did end up taking the phone in today and they waived the $200 fee for a one time only kinda thing. And as in referring to if I it was a referb one or brand new, I'm not sure but it was not brought out in one of there black boxes it was brought out with phone just I. The plastic.

Just tell the genius the truth about what happened to your phone. I got a free ipod touch 4g replacement last September. Well, before there's a thing called AppleCare+ which I'm afraid that they will totally stop giving a free replacement with reason, since this is your first time, we will give you a free replacement!
