Does anyone know the material used for the side straps? It almost looks like silicone, but that would make me concerned about the durability — although there is obviously something fairly rigid underneath this material for power and audio connections.

I hope they designed the headbands and light seals to be washable to account for hair products, makeup, sweat, sebum, etc. Otherwise, the vision pro would just end up being nasty after using it for a certain amount of time.
If they have to be discarded whenever they get dirty, that would be terrible for the environment. Apple would get a lot of flak. And I’m sure Apple doesn’t want their products to look nasty. So I’m deducing that they are washable to some degree.

Since the seal and and headband are removable, there likely must be a way to make people comfortable wearing a headset others have worn, and if that's possible, it seems there's a business use case I haven't seen mentioned yet.

A business could provide entertainment for a handful of people at a time, similar to an escape room business. Customers who wouldn't pay $3500 for something they have no daily use for might pay, say, $40 for a unique experience with friends for an hour. Disney might make them Marvel superheroes or villains for that hour. Personal setups could be saved to expedite repeat business. Development houses might provide a continuous stream of new experiences to try, similar to how there are always new movies to see at the theater.

I'm guessing the "speakers" use bone conduction (like Shokz headphones do), because at least one hands-on reviewer said others can't hear what the wearer is hearing.

I'm actually surprised it came with any speakers at all. I really thought it would lean on buds as "separates" for audio. I can appreciate the privacy angle for what one is seeing that no one else can see, making it possible to work on anything in Vision Pro (VPro) without even someone sitting next to you (like in an Airplane seat) seeing what you're seeing. However, that audio seems less private and/or a bit distracting if there's not some kind of magic involved there. I'm going to guess that- like a laptop- one could use the built-in speakers OR buds... and the latter would make the audio experience completely private too. Else, it seems akin to always using speakerphone mode on phone if others can hear the audio around you.

I'm also surprised- but less so- that it stands alone as a whole computer. I imagined it could be one but I also imagined it leaning more on a nearby Mac or iDevice. I think it's really great that it apparently stands on its own but I wondered if it would lean on some horsepower in other Apple devices (with their own batteries)... like CarPlay to phone or even Watch somewhat to phone.

I am most intrigued at the quick reference of using the (bluetooth) "Magic" keyboard + track pad with this "computer" as a potential (new kind of) laptop replacement. I had wondered if that would be possible BEFORE the launch but was assuming it would take a computer (such as maybe a Commodore 64-like accessory) or as clearly implied in many examples during the demo- an Apple laptop- to do the "heavy lifting." Instead, it is apparently its own "whole" computer AND/OR it can also double as only an endless monitor for nearby Mac.

One could have a fairly light "laptop" bag if it contained only VPro + Magic Keyboard + Trackpad. I want to know more about that ONE particular use. A laptop with ANY size screen is highly appealing to my "road warrior" needs... and I doubt we'll EVER see a physical MBpro larger than maybe 17" if that. Yes, there are some laptop concepts with foldout physical screens and/or the option of buying separate physical screens to use with a laptop. But both would involve much more weight in the bag. VPro seems like it could be a dazzler as a new kind of laptop with ANY size screen.

Another story just posted talks to the concept of typing on a virtual keyboard, so perhaps some people could leave the keyboard and trackpad out of the bag too. Now that's a LIGHT laptop bag with an unlimited-size screen(s)! Myself: I think I'd want that bluetooth + mouse/trackpad in the bag. But TBD. Maybe the virtual replacements are great! Demo needed.

Hopefully, we get even more on that topic soon. For me anyway, that ONE thing done well is "killer app." I'd like Apple to further confirm that ability... and that battery packs can be swapped for extended use such as lengthy travel. Both seem likely based upon what was shown.

Long ago, Powermac G4 (laptop) had replaceable batteries and I carried at least one extra so I could have a functional laptop for the entirety of long trips. Hopefully this has the same ability until M16 or so can run for a month on a single charge... or recharge on each eye blink. ;)

Anyone wanting a Milanese Loop headband!
this would be so ungodly uncomfortable…back when I had a ML, even with practically nonexistent arm hair, it still got stuck all the time and was nothing but a nuisance 😂 can’t imagine how it’d be all around my head, not to mention the potential for wonky weight distribution.

it’s gorgeous as a watch band, but it’s very late-career-Ive esque; very form-over-function. (no, it’s not lost on me that he didn’t invent the design concept. just making that reference for the sake of it.)

Fitment of the Light Seal- I wonder if Face ID could be used (with 3D mapping) to determine the correct size, during the ordering process.

If the OS allows you to have profiles you’ll be able to share it with your family. I can see people justifying the purchase if that’s the case. I don’t know if Apple would like to sell one device per household instead of one device per person though...

This is great news for possible trade-ins. The icky parts that touch the previous user's face can be replaced. Because if you have to spend $3500 with no possibility of trade-in then that doubles the cost/way less people will buy it, especially if the tech is upgraded every year or two.

Bone conduction headphones work like magic but they're not. The audio is rather private but AirPods would be even more so.
The introductory video showed an airline passenger using Vision Pro with AirPods Pro in her ears. APP offer the benefits over the Vision Pro's speakers of passive noise suppression and active noise cancellation.

Already confirmed by MKBHD and others that they’re just speakers very near your ears but not bone conduction. On an airplane for example, you’d still want to use AirPods.
