The VAST majority of the population has shown zero interest in strapping a scuba mask computer onto their face.

This is not a product you use while walking on the street, I guess. But neither does a MacStudio Ultra. It's not meant to replace the iPhone. It's the at the moment highest-resolution and almost-zero-latency tool for a blended reality/computer experience. There is nothing like it. It is not meant to replace the iPhone. What I was saying is, the first iPhone was incredibly bad. We all forget that it didn’t start with the power of a desktop computer, it was a terrible device in many, many ways. \
But Apple stuck with it, and it became a success. Same with the Apple Watch, same with the AirPods, the first wireless iteration was a mess, the APP3 are quite good. None of these products were «perfect» from the start.

What is it meant for then?
Even Apple doesn't seem to really know based upon how they've supported it.

That's not really much of a market right now, sorry.
A company the size of Apple deals in large viable markets.

I don't get it. First really (sorry for the pun) visionary product by Apple in a loooooooooong time.
It's really not hard to understand at all. Vision Pro did not resonate with the public. VR fans can't seem to understand this, but the general public isn't interested in VR, "spatial computing" or however it's rebranded. Apple averages 1 million Apple Store visitors worldwide PER DAY. Despite having such a huge captive audience, Apple couldn't convert even 1% of those customers into Vision Pro users.

The tech is really cool but people don't want it. It's really that simple.

I reckon you never used it?

Movies, Reading books, magazines and comics, music-making, Surgery, pilot training, Simulation, Games, ANYTHING you can do in iPad or a Mac.

I personally use it mostly as a traveling screen, it basically gives me a giant-size screen on the road that fits in my bad (and also fills the rest of the room with Mail, Messages, art and music :-D). But since the display is just SO good I started using it in the studio as well, especially in Lightroom and Photoshop, because it is so so so different from working with a display, even with the limitations of the MacVirtualDisplay, it's just SO amazing doing retouching and image editing with the glasses.

Watching movies, especially with the light shield on, is quite simply the best experience outside of a cinema in terms of sharpness and brightness. Reading books «on the ceiling» is fun, hands free.

That would put an immediate stop on Mac Production. The thing is: The mass market products CARRY the progressive products that will turn into a new market with time. You cannot operate with the idea that every product is a hit, it has to grow. I am big Apple fan, but only got the AW with the 4th iteration, because that was when it stopped being a strange joke (and it didn't really much improve since then, sadly). Sales is important, but a company, especially one with the Apple / Steve Jobs myth involved, needs «we're in the ****ing next decade with this» products. The AVP is that product. The rest is just evolution. Especially when you bring AI and speech recognition and such stuff into the device development, make it lighter and faster, integrate it deeper with other devices and the ecosphere. It's not a perfect, maybe not even a great product despite all the daily use I get from it – but just using it you can TASTE the immense potential that, sorry, I don't get from an iPhone at all anymore.

Apple has no «next» product in the sense that the iPod and the iPhone where «not where our market is at all, but let's see what happens» stuff. And that is potentially a major problem for a company of that size.
