I work in London and know about TCR but it is just at the end of Oxford Street so I just lumped it in with Oxford Street. MicroAnvika is indeed a good bunch of stores. John Lewis in Bond Street has the full range too. I got my powermac there as it was a 1GHz DP on clearance 'cos it was the previous non-FW800 model.
I was in the UK at Christmas, in Bristol, and it seemed to be relatively well stocked with Macs. Cribbs Causeway mall has John Lewis with loads of Macs but hardly any staff and nothing being demoed. There was a big display in PC World too, iTunes blasting away, but again its the staff letting the side down. I went and bought my PB from a reseller in Bristol. There are loads of these outlets to choose from, but they are all basically working out of glorified industrial units, the only hardware around is a couple of leaflets and the odd unit under repair or awaiting collection, and they were all offering exactly the same next day delivery deal, give or take.
In the whole of Wales, not the biggest country on earth i Know, but there are 2 resellers. In Spain where I am at the moment, there are stores in Madrid selling Macs, 180 kms away. In a town of 16000 the 100% PC shop owners reckon there are 2 Macs in town.
Unless you have done a shed load of research and convinced yourself you want a Mac, or you know a Mac owner socially who is really motivated to show you what one can do, I dont think there is much chance of being converted in the places I have mentioned. A Mac has the same mystique as Bang and Olufsen. You know they exist, you know they are something very special and you know you probably wont have one.
