This can’t be true. I swear hundreds of posters on this very forum called it a failure, so there is no way it could be accurate!

As a public company Apple should be forced to release a breakdown of sales by product so we can all see exactly how well each product is doing.

Feel free to buy enough shares and put that to a vote then. Or by “we” do you just mean everyone on the planet.

I have yet to see anyone with a watch. AirPods
are far more prevalent.

2 years ago seeing an Apple Watch in the wild was pretty rare (where I live), now I see them absolutely everywhere. Close to 50% of the people at my gym are wearing them! I still see a lot less Airpods than AWs (mind you it's a fair assumption that most Airpod owners don't wear them every waking moment, whereas I suspect most AW owners do).

The Apple Watch now is like what the Fitbit/Jawbone was. I would love for Apple to release an Apple Watch Lite that removes most of the cellular features. I really would like it for controlling my BT headphones, storing a few songs (similar to the Shuffle), and the HR monitor.

I don’t know where you are, but after series 3, Apple watches are all over the place. I live in a small town out in the western US. 2 years ago, people would look quizzically at my Apple Watch and shake their heads saying something about “millenials”.

I was in town today and without looking for them, I noticed about half a dozen. It’s not just me. Folks I work with who don’t even know that there is an iPhone 10 recently bought series 3 cellular Apple watches.

I was skeptical that the trend would ever pick up at first, but if you actually try to look, you will start to see them, now.

But of course people here will still think the AW to be a failure, that Apple is doomed, and Tim Cook is a failure as well.

It’s like flat earthers. No matter what the facts are, they are already firm on their believes. :D

Of course, the same can be said about the Apple Fanbois...

Plus, Apple Pay on the wrist is incredible.

I don't think I've paid with my phone once since I got my Apple Watch - Apple Pay on the watch is easy and fun.

Lucky you. In the U.K. it’s starting price is the same as the Nvidia Shield TV..... the 128 GB model is the equivalent of $270.34 including tax, yeah utterly overpriced for what it is.

The NVidia shield TV is hands down a better device in just about every way... So that should make that decision much easier... lol

I don’t know where you live or how often you get out, but I see the Apple Watch absolutely everywhere. Compared to where it was in 2015 of April to where it is today, I see the Apple Watch a minimum of 10 times a day. There is a reason they have crushed the competition around them with the band customization, the health related features, Apple Pay and the convenience of the notifications.

Agree.

Using my unscientific method:

‘how frequently do I see product y in London everyday on the tube’

My answer is ‘it’s a hit’.

You see people with the watch all the time, just as much as when the iPod and iPhone became massive hits and it seemed that every other person had one on the tube around 2004 & 2010, respectively.

I went to London Friday just gone and i saw a lot of people with the Apple Watch and AirPods, myself included. I'm really not surprised that the Apple Watch is doing so well it really is a great smart watch i've loved using mine and i'm still using a first generation Apple Watch until i updated to the Series 4 later this year :D

Apple Watch LTE is the only Apple Product I currently own that I think is the best it can be with the current state of the technology...
It’s astonishing that I can make calls on this pretty little watch...
What’s your experience using the watch without an iPhone? More importantly, what carrier allowed you to add a watch without an iPhone? I ask because I’m interested in doing that and was hoping that would be a possibility one day.

I’m on AT&T and I am using it with an iPhone. My LTE has its own number but works in tandem with my iPhone through AT&T Number Sync. I sometimes get telemarketing calls that hit my watch only and not my phone, so I guess it might be possible to activate and use the watch completely without an iPhone tied to it, but I don’t have firsthand experience with this. You can try asking the carriers what your options are.

I also use two Android phones, (Pixel 2 and Samsung S9+) . I have a line and sim dedicated to experimenting with Android. It also functions as sort of a replacement for our land line which hasn’t worked properly in a few years and is saturated with telemarketing calls when it is working.

But I am not actually ever without an iPhone. The iPhone is my main phone.

In a way that's kind of what the Series 1 is, or are you looking for something more basic than that?

At $249, I still can't justify the cost. I was hoping for something in the $150 range. Also, what is very important to me is the heart rate monitor for gym workouts, and I've heard mixed reviews on the gen 1 HR. I do have a ANT+ chest strap that hooks up to a Garmin bicycle computer, so I am looking for a similar HR setup when I'm at the gym... just without the chest strap :)

Tim: It was a banner year for watches and AirPods!

Investor: What about HomePod?

Tim: Tim: Did I mention it was a banner year for watches and AirPods!!

In my bubble, I don’t see anybody without an Apple Watch, except at black tie events or other appropriate times to whip out a high-end timepiece.
