I was eating some pork chops and applesauce earlier...you know, the Mott's kind in a big glass bottle. I came to realize how truly vile that Mott's stuff is and began to wonder if any other applesauce lovers out there can offer up some pointers how to make the good stuff. What variety of Apple do you think is the best? Should I use water or cider? Any particular blend of spices you find to be the best?

And for those of us who don't know......will Applesauce run on Rosetta, or will it be be compiled to run natively on Intel Mac hardware without emulation?

Erm......how do you make the stuff anyway? Seems like all you'd need are some apples, a blender, sugar and cinnamon, and some apple cider.

Yeah, Motts is just plain gross when you compare it to homemade apple sauce, which I haven't had in a while. Ummm so good.

Pretty much any kind of apple will do; I like tart apples rather than dessert apples for sauce, and a few larger chunks. If you can get ahold of some crabapples and sauce some of them in too, they add nice colour and flavour. Use a bit of ascorbic acid (vitamin C) solution on the cut apples and in the sauce, it will keep it from turning brown quite so fast.

Just don't be talking about mutton, y'hear? ;)

Bah! It has to simmmmmer for at least an hour. And I don't have a blender anyways...

speaking of "applesauce" -here's screenshot of my computer's name... "Sauce" - i always tell the old man to "stay off the sauce" :D i was in a weird mood when the computer got named, what can i say? :p

p.s. yes, mott's is gross

Blended or whole, I generally don't like apples (the fruit), as I have had too many bad experiences with mushiness, worms, bad texture, etc.

Apple computers, on the other hand, are awesome.
