With the ATV 4K can you link your old (silver remote) from 3rd gen ATV. I tried 4K at the store and my kid is having hard time using touch thing to switch things around, but its pro with silver remote.

the aTV understands the IR commands from the old remotes. even the really old white ones will work

Yep. I have used the silver remote from the AppleTV 2 and 3, and even the old while plastic one from the original AppleTV.
