Can you attach an External HDD to the 4k AppleTV or would it need to be "Hacked" I am new to the Forum and New to AppleTV. Any help would be appreciated.

I have an external HDD currently hooked up to my Smart TV and it can play the movies but would be nice for the Apple TV voice control to access these movies as well I do have them in my Itunes Library on my PC but it seems to take along time to buffer from my computer.

I won't say it's impossible but highly unlikely. USB port is not a fully functional one, so even some kind of hack is probably not bringing that capability.

I have a pretty fair number of movies and they load very quickly. Check your connections. If wifi, try ethernet and vice versa. Is the delay because the computer is slow to wake up? etc.

The Apple TV 4K cannot use any external storage of any kind. It lacks a USB port and can only play media from an Ethernet or WiFi source.
