AppleTV 4k Using US Account in Canada

I live in Canada but want to access F1 through my AppleTV 4k WiFi and AppleTV+. I have a friend in the US whose address and credit card I can use to create a US AppleTV+ account. Will this work through my ATV or will I need a VPN app?

Yes will work, just setup the account and add it as another profile.
No VPN required.
