Looking for some help here.

I stream music/movies/tv-shows etc. from my iMac to my AppleTV via wireless-N (Airport Extreme). I get a great signal (5 bars) and TV-shows, music and even smaller movies play just fine. Longer movies (3 + GB in size) cause the AppleTV to "hang" from time to time. By hang I mean the play back appears to pause, no buffering it just seams to "pause". If I hit play/pause it begins to play again (without any buffering). It will freeze again randomly but again only when playing larger files.

Given the fact it seems to be tied to the size, I would assume that this is a buffering issue but if so I would expect the AppleTV to pause playback WHILE it buffers (while the buffer bar appears) but this doesn't happen. If I do not hit the "play" but again, it will stay paused indefinately.

    Any ideas?

FYI. I have all the latest updates for AppleTV etc. applied.

I often experience the exact same scenario while streaming my 720p movies. I'm also using wireless N. I have come to assume it has something to do with high bitrate, as all my movies were converted with Visual Hub on the "Go Nuts" setting, which encodes the movie to barely under the :apple:tv's maximum bitrate (5000kbps). I never have problems streaming DVD rips encoded with Handbrake (much lower bitrate - 1500kbps).

I've come to grips with the fact that I need to sync those 720p movies before watching. If I want to start watching immediately, I know I'm running the risk of having the hiccups you're experiencing.
