sometime inthe last 24hrs my ability to airplay youtubetv to my homepods has broken, I cant find anyone else reporting this so I have reset every component in the chain, including uninstalling youtubetv app. The audio video sync is a couple of seconds out, Netflix and other apps work fine, so you would think it has to be the youtubetv app, if I change output to hdmi it is I sync again so it is an airplay issue

I’m experiencing the same issue with YouTube TV audio via AirPlay to my HomePod (in some cases there’s no audio at all). I reached out to YouTube TV support, and they were completely unhelpful. They suggested I reach out to Apple stating:

“Thanks for your response and clarification. You mentioned that the audio is syncing correctly if you use the speakers for your TV at this point the YouTube TV app is working as intended. It looks like that the the HomePod has a delay on picking up the Audio from your Apple TV to your HomePod.

At this case, I would suggest to contact Apple support for your HomePod so they can provide steps on how to improve the syncing of Audio for your devices. You can contact the Apple support by phone at 1-800-275-2273 or through their online support options: getsupport.apple.com.“

My issue began Thursday evening, or that’s when I first saw it. I know it worked Thursday morning.

Thankyou so much for confirming this, so what google is saying is they have abandoned airplay 2 support.... which would seem unlikely, they just don’t want to admit they broke it..... I imagine it will get fixed at some point, every other app works fine

Still broken, fear it will not be fixed due to zero articles or user response, I had no idea so few used HomePod for tv, guess numbers even lower for those using youtubetv

Just another reference point. When I’m using my Bluetooth headphones with the YouTube app on iOS it often falls out of sync. I have always found every other app to work absolutely fine. So there seems to be something really inherently wrong with the YouTube app. It’s been this way for as long as I remember.

It seems that their engineers are aware of the issue and are investigating (screenshot is from the YouTube TV reddit). Hopefully it's addressed before the 30th, because that is when my Hulu trial is set to expire.
