First let me apologize before I start! I know there is a lot written here already on the topic. I have read the posts but nothing seems to help. I am at a loss to know what to do next.
I have 2 AppleTV's. They have identical setups other than the device names of course. Both connect via 802.11n wireless using a Time Capsule as the router. Both have the latest software installed. Both are set up to have an IP address assigned automatically. Both are set up for a custom sync where no media is downloaded to the local drive. Effectively they stream without using the streaming setup (sync selected but nothing is selected).
iTunes is installed on a Vista machine and it is also the latest version (9.0.1?)
One of the AppleTV's works and syncs flawlessly, every time.
The other sometimes shows up in iTunes and sometimes not. When it shows up in iTunes, a sync request returns a message box stating "Apple TV is not responding". I may get an evening where a restart of the AppleTV allows it to be used to watch content but hours later it goes back to it's unresponsive self. Go to the AppleTV itself and it will show no "media" on the device. Ask it to look at the internet and it connects to the iTunes store. I am baffled. Can someone give me any clue at all?

I wish I could help. I have been searching the better part of today to understand why some of my TV Shows will not sync with Apple TV. One I bought yesterday from iTunes does but anything bought before that does not.

Any ideas. I really want to watch The Wire on my Apple TV.

Have you got it set to sync the "n" latest or only unwatched episodes? That could explain your issue.

I have it set to automatically include all episodes of all shows. Even selecting one of the shows manually will will not sync it.

I have no idea in that case. Only thought would be to check under iTunes "edit", "preferences" "Apple TV" tab and see if the box "prevent Apple TVs from syncing automatically" is inadvertently checked.

If the connection is intermittent and unstable even when it comes up, the first question I'd ask is how your signal strength looks, and if there are any devices nearby that might be causing interference.

Signal strength is at full capacity. Only thing I can think of is that the items which don't transfer were purchased before I upgraded to iTunes 9. Could that have something to do with it?

I think I have figured it out. It seems unchecking the shows that do not sync, syncing and then checking them agains results in their now syncing.

Very strange, but it seems to have resolved the issue.
