Is this some sort of lame joke, or did you actually read that in the news somewhere?

Yea, I was all excited to go and install the new software only to find that there IS NO UPDATE AVAILABLE. I might say I was a little disappointed.

I upgraded to 10.5.2, turned on iTunes (just in case iTunes needed to deliver an update to :apple:TV), then went to the Settings and Update Software menus and...

    ... still up to date.

I'm sure we'll either see it by the end of the day today or tomorrow.

Surely this will be delivered via the :apple:tv system rather than itunes or software update?

Saying that I can't really remember what happened last time, it seems so long ago that we got the youtube update...

There's been chatter about the update being so large that part of it would be delivered via iTunes and another via the :apple:TV update system.

im not upset that it is taking a while to get this update out....

what is irritating is that steve announced an update at the keynote, said two weeks, and then another two weeks.... meanwhile there have been iPhone, iPod, iLife, OSX, ProApps and several other updates released. WTF steve? if its obviously not close to being ready to release, then DONT give us a two week timeframe. Just say there are big aTV updates coming soon.

i miss when apple used to release stuff WHEN they announced it. It seems that in the last year, they are pulling the "pre-release" hype to a new level. I dont like it. If its not ready for us to download, purchase or preorder with a close ship date, then dont hype it up to us.

You guys don't get it... Apple has sold lots of ATV's since the announcement.
This is the kind of marketing hype that works, I should know I bought one after the KNA. Simple put we like everything Mac.

Update not coming for a few more weeks.

I just read in a weekly trade magazine (Home Media Magazine, Page 12) that the update isn't coming out until the END of February. Sorry. I don't know how reliable the info is, but it's a weekly trade magazine we get here at work. Like Variety.

That article is crap - the first sentence says all rentals have been delayed - really? So Im not watching a rental on my iPhone right now. In addition note the date the article was writen - the 1st - the day Apple said that it would be about one to two more weeks...

Since the article was posted on Feb 1st, I'd wager they just got it wrong.

But I'm holding off some Unbox downloads to my Tivo as I want to compare the quality to the Apple TV. I do hope it hits tomorrow. I would guess either:

a). we hear nothing and it's this week (sometime)

b). we get an announcement in a few days they won't have it for X amount of time (once they realize they really won't get it done in time).

    Well...

The article was really only about the Apple TV. They just got us all amped for the release... only to make us buy ATV's and check Macrumors every day... haha. I do it... every day...
