Hey,

I was wondering if you can set an application to "always on top" or "always on bottom" status without using a third party app. AFAIK third party apps use some kind of cocoa plugin, but I don't want to use this. Is it possible with applescript/terminal commands? I don't know how to approach this problem.

Thanks!

You can create a palette that will always float on top of everything. You can also easily switch this behavior on the fly, like if the user were to click an "unfloat" button. You might consider setting LSUIElement to true in the info.plist file, except then your app will not have a dock icon, will not show up in recent items, and can only be force-quit from the terminal or activity monitor.
