Application image not displayed upon install

When I install applications outside of the mac app store, they usually show up in the applications folder but their image is not displayed. To cure this, I need to either reboot or wait a while.

Here is what I am talking about:


Is there a way to fix this?

Is this due to the harddrive or what?

Also, would an SSD fix this?

are you really considering a ssd to fix this? just restart your computer...

No need to reboot. Open up terminal and type killall Dock then it will reload your dock and load the icon.

Close it and then reopen the app
