Hello all

really appreciate the help ive been getting on the site its a wonderful place.

ive recently installed a few programs and i noticed the majority of them are installed in the applications folder, however not all apps appear to install to that directory, recently i installed vlc, and burn, and i noticed they did not install to that location, it was simply a case of clicking on the downloaded file, it extracted it to a folder in my downloads, and then clicking the app from there,

however the app just seemed not to install it was more like you click it and it runs without installing, is this correct in this case? do not all apps install like in windows? or is it a case of cutting/dragging the apps (which dont seem to install but open when clicked) to the application folder then maybe making a shortcut on the dock bar?

Any help would be appreciated, im just that used to running windows for over 20 years its a whole new life for me lol

Regards

If you've opened a Disk Image folder you can drag the application to whatever folder you want and eject the disk image.

Hi miles thanks for the reply, is ejecting the image just simply right clicking and ejecting? also once ive run the image am i right in thinking once extracted it simply should be deleted?

really appreciate the help guys!

@ggj studios gonna take alook at links regards!
