I'm not being defensive! I was trying to explain the Apple way of letting developers to add there own sound preferences! If the developer doesn't included eat a user wants then find another and complain to that developer.

If you want Apple to add a 'system sound mixer' then report the request to Apple OS X Feedback. If enough requests are received by Apple then you former Windows Switchers might get then to add a requested feature! Just remember the old saying "you catch more flies with honey"!

Thanks for providing a link to give Apple feedback. In my situation the 'developer' is Apple. Apple's Messages and Mail apps are the two programs I'm trying to individually lower the volume for. I use a background noise generator to drown out chatter around my workplace. To do this effectively requires a lot of volume which then creates very loud alerts from Apple's apps.

For the record, I've been a dedicated Mac user for over a decade and didn't even realize Windows had this functionality until coming to this thread.

What I seeing today is a lot of switchers wishing OS X was exactly like Windows but don't realize that Windows GUI got it's GUI after Steve gave them a preproduction Mac for software development.

I am trying to make them understand is OS X is not Windows! Things work differently besides is OS X is more related to BSD Unix! That Apple a long tie ago gave sound control to developers and it probably will never change.

You really need a chill pill. Everyone here understands this they have a mac and not a pc. They are the ones who bought the mac. You dont need to remind them. I have the same problem that they have because the game I am playing doesnt have individual sound control that is easily accessible. I was hoping that OS X would have the ability to manipulate the sound of individual applications instead of the system sound as a whole, but what I found was a passive aggressive Know-it-all with the username satcomer.

Calling me names won't change that fact!

You think people are literally retarded like they don't know if they have a Mac or a PC. You are coming off as a complete jerk just FYI. AND you are the one that seems to not be able to comprehend that he want's to control the application's sounds on a per app basis. WE KNOW THE DEVS CAN ADD VOLUME CONTROLS IF THEY CHOOSE. PLEASE STOP SAYING THAT OR JUST STOP POSTING ON THIS THREAD.

Won't change what fact? The fact that you are a passive aggressive know-it-all?

I doubt anything would change that. I'm sure you are a horrendous personality IRL.

I'm passive aggressive? So your a software developer that knows better who to make Mac OS (that's what it called now) with a main sound mixer like Windows?

Plus why dodo people come along and dig up an almost dead thread and slam me out of the blue!

First, let me be clear: from all your posts here, I am quite confident that I know my around OS X and it's audio interface far more so than you. Second, it should be mentioned that the reason people keep resurrecting this thread is because YOU keep posting, and digging your hole deeper and deeper, making clear to anyone reading that you don't know what you're talking about, but worse, offering "advice" to people that is decidedly unhelpful, and because your belligerent attitude coupled with the steady stream of false information from you rubs many people the wrong way.
Third, what position do you have at Apple? Because if you do not work for Apple, then you have no basis for commenting on what their motivations are or are not for their given UIs and APIs. FTR, your claim here is not only utter nonsense, it doesn't even make sense. This has NOTHING to do with developer control, as overall sound output is under USER control, NOT developer control. The lack of a per-application volume mixer is the result of one or both of two things: a continuing oversight on the part of Apple, and/or a drive to over-simplify the UI to prevent user confusion.
The fact that this was a flawed decision on Apple's part is evinced by the continuing flood of such questions surrounding this issue.

My last post was in April! You have to work on your observations!
