Uh...how do i put my applications and home folders on the dock and desktop? thanks!

To put them on the dock: Drag them from Finder to the area next to the trash can (make sure you don't accidentally drop them in the trash)

To put them on your desktop: Hold down Option and Apple keys and drag from Finder to Desktop to create Alias (shortcut)

Just select the folder in Finder and drag it to the Dock.🙂

uh i just tried moving the app folder and now it went poof and i cant see it no more haha

You dragged it from the sidebar. That's a shortcut area. To put it back in the sidebar open Macintosh HD and drag it from the area on the right to the desktop (create an alias as described above, don't move it!), dock and sidebar.

As said in the previous posts, the things on the left hand side of Finder (the sidebar) are just shortcuts, not the actual folders.
