Some of the applications on my iBook G4 suddenly will not open: not from the dock; not from the apps folder. Any ideas on how to fix?

Which OSX? Have you tried to remove preference files these apps?

Yes, but no luck. It only seems to be with applications that need an internet connection: mail, safari, itunes...

Any number of things could cause this. What happens when you try to open the applications?

If they quit unexpectedly almost immediately, one possible cause is a corrupted font that they all use. Another is a corrupted WebKit installation - WebKit is the framework that powers Safari, as well as several other applications that use the Internet.

If you click them but nothing happens, your LaunchServices database is probably corrupted.
