I made an MR .icns file in iconcomposer (in the developer folder in Mac OS X) and I want to apply it to a link on my desktop to the MR Marketplace, how exactly would I go about doing that, I have the .icns file and the .webloc file.

Help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

(Here's the icon (top) and the webloc file (bottom).)

That ^ problem is why I started this thread... 😉

Edit: Way too slow... 😱

Try opening the icns file in icon composer (or preview) and copy from that... then it will work. 🙂

Mark the macrumors file. Hit cmd-I (File -> Get Info). Click on the icon in the Info window, it cmd-C (Edit -> Copy). Mark the other file, hit cmd-I, mark that icon, hit cmd-V (Edit -> Paste). 🙂

Read my above post it has results in pictures, I knew that but it didn't work, hence why I posted this thread. 🙂

Open the .icns in Icon Composer, copy it to the clipboard, then paste it into the webloc's info panel.

oh you have preview for images on... well i would get iconographer and export as a new resource file... but for the dev tools.. ah just open in the IconComposer and copy it and then paste it.

That's why I was editing my post like mad while you answered it... 😱 😉

And again when I knew it worked... 🙂

For future reference, it might be easier to download the free icns2icon (Google it-the site's down). It will take your .icns file and make an empty document with the icon applied to it.

Opening an icns file with Icon Composer and copying it doesn't work. An icns file contains Images of multiple resolutions. Pasting into the info window only pastes one of those images, so you lose the 16x16 icon.
