Does anyone think there will be a price drop on ebay and so macbooks after WWDC? Right now, they are selling in the $1000 range and I am looking for around 700 for a quad core model. Did something similar happen with the release of the Core i7 models??

Maybe slightly, but there's a lot of people out there who will bid on items and have no clue that new ones were just announced. There's a lot of misinformed (stupid) people who buy things online.

The Quad Core models are only 15" MBP's. I do not see even the early 2011 MBP's dropping to $700. The 13" MBP's are going for about 1000 right now and they might drop a couple hundred bucks but they are still dual core.

I would keep your eyes peeled on both the Apple online store (Refurbished) and maybe even Craigslist. There are plenty of Macs that will show up on CL that can be considered a real bargain.

If you buy a refurb it could be new old stock rather than refurbished. I got a new one after the 2009 MBPs were released. I'd suggest ringing the apple store and having a nice chat with the friendly salesperson discussing the pro and cons of refurbs etc. Don't forget to ask his name so you can contact him when you need to upgrade again.

Maybe I got a special deal at the update because Miles, the salesperson, who had sold me my ibook (he gave a $50 discount then) a couple of years before, went away for a few minutes before confirming my order.
