Just used migration assistant to transfer my stuff from my imac to new macbook pro. Office, aperture and couple of other apps asked for license information— while I have a few, some were 'borrowed' from work and don't have them handy.

But I thought the license would transfer to the new computer during migration? Is that not the case?

Afraid not for either ..will need the serial numbers .. if you purchased Aperture from the App store, you might be able to reinstall using the download .. otherwise ..SOL..

Office got pissy when I upgraded to an SSD ...

I would not expect application licenses to transfer via migration. different apps have different rules; some are tied to the specific system and would need a new key for a different machine. Some are licensed to only one machine and if you migrate you still have the original machine, so the license should not move.
