Opened up my Macbook and tried to open iphoto... and the icon shows a giant question mark over it. Went and looked in my apps folder and all apps from Apps A-F are all gone. All the iLife suite are gone as well. I tried spotlighting iMovie and it is nowhere to be found. I am not dumb enough to delete half of my applications. I tried restarting the computer, they were still gone. I am in College, and the restore DVD's are back at my parents house. I really need the iMovie programs for some courses I am in. Im running a Black MacBook with 10.5.5. I have 40GB+ left on my hard drive. I really need Help. thanks in advance.
-Abstracion Congratulations - this is a new one on me. Restart. Use Disk Utility to repair permissions. Restart. Use Disk Utility to check your HD health - be sure S.M.A.R.T. status and journaling is active. Leave it on, and awake overnight, for it to run its chron jobs. Please let us know what happens.
Another weird thing I noticed is that my free hard drive space is about the same, if not less than before all the Apps disappeared. I would think that with all the apps being gone that I would have a notable increase in free hard drive space.
Ok, alarm bells. Has your overall drive capacity dropped? If nither your capacity, or free space have changed, it sounds to me the apps are still there, just not appearing for some reason. Still, try the above and see what happens.
