Apple has given a warning about 14.5 to developers for a good while now. Developers need to get their proverbial ducks in a row before the deadline.
We know. It doesn't change he facts though. And having your ducks in a row is pointless when you depend on a product whose developers don't have their ducks in a row.

I mean who even uses apps on their iPhones nowadays? 10 years ago the App Store was innovating new technologies and measures to have your phone replace almost all your devices, now it’s a monumental mess that’s full of just basic functional apps like a palm treo was.

"Ask App not to Track" ??

Let me know when that changes to "Prevent App from Tracking"

Until then, this is all feels-good nonsense.

Updates for old apps will require xcode 12, and it's about a big of a pain in the rear end as you'd expect. My employeer is dependent on a 3rd party SDK that only works with xcode 11. The update that works with xcode 12, removes other features. So we need to re-implement the removed features so that we can update to xcode 12...

It's not 100% Apple's fault, but at the same time Apple certainly isn't like Microsoft in this regard, where you can still submit apps made with Visual Studio 2017 for Windows Phone.
But you knew this since time apples always updating their SDKs rapidly compared to the rest of the industry it’s been like this in before OS X launched.

Pretty simple solution.... don't use the app.

Worst case scenario, make a fake email address and use fake credentials. Not a good solution but better than making it easy for the scumbags.

Ex: I bought a Doom game on Steam, the maker, Bethesda, required an account to play the game, I promptly requested a refund from Steam and listed the need for an account as my reason for wanting the refund. If we all do this companies will change their ways.

I’m with you on the desired result. I’m just not down with giving a company my hard earned money, just to ask for a refund which takes them 5days to initiate, 2 business days for me to receive while for thousands of users they make great interest on my heart earned dollars for 5 business days.

yes I could’ve made that 2 or 1 simple sentence. But you’ll not see how much of a pain the process is for such refund.

honestly do NOT give these companies your hard earned dollar in the first place. All of us should NOT. Make them feel the dollar pinch to rapidly change their act.

steam in all purposes of this 3rd party account to play a game is why it should never have happened on PC in the first place. Now add that to console games and you’ll see how crazy it is with Epics argument

"When all is said and done, more is always said than done."

I have a feeling this ATT update is going be a lesser deal than it's made out to be. Unfortunately.

My company is a service provider who depends on this 3rd party product, which happens to be the industry leader for the segment they are in. It doesn't matter how good my company is, we're beholden to others. My company actually just spent about 320 man-hours making an "emergecy fix" that we can use if necessary. It's a janky as anything webview, but it gets the job done. :(

I'm not faulting Apple here, just stating that it's not always easy to be on the continuous upgrade carousel. Especially when you're trying to juggle the upgrades with application updates and managing unplanned covid related releases at the same time.

Man I feel your pain, truthfully.

If i worked for your company I'd be on the front lines taking the calls for system or infrastructure breaks / outages.

My wife has been asked by her employer to use "Care Connect for Caregivers," an iOS app store app. It does NOT allow users to request not to be tracked. In a very sneaky fashion, it requires you have an ID and log in. Only then does it tell you that you must accept tracking, or it just sits at that screen. When you allow tracking, it functions.

I had a chat converstation with Apple Support, and their response was it isn't Apple's responsibility to make Apps allow you to refuse checking, and I should bring any complaints to the developer.

This is incredibly strange, and I repeatedly asked her the question in different ways to make sure she actually understood. That didn't help. This is a phone we both use, and neither of us wants to be tracked.

Does anybody know where else I can raise this issue with Apple?
