Okay, this is worrying.

I synced most of my apps through my iMac, and for some reason, some didn't sync. Never mind, I thought, I'll get them from the app store. The first few downloaded fine, but now I can't get any more to download. They just sit at waiting, and the iPad shows no sign of doing anything (ie the little wheel is not appearing in the status bar). It's not solved by a restart, and deleting the apps and trying again is not working. Also the few updates I have are not working either.

Any ideas? Thanks!

In the same boat. Had a few initial ones download and now it's sitting there in waiting mode. I think this is just a very busy day for downloads, and I'm going to have to be patient and accept that I might not get to fully play with this thing till tonight.

I did a complete shutdown too, just to see if anything changed. A few apps kicked off again, but it is very slow.

Have not even gotten to the point of transferring data plans.

I was hoping someone would say it was just because the store is busy. That makes me feel better! I didn't want to have problems with my new best friend! I'll just spend my time on the internet staring at text instead for a while then!

Thanks!

Wanted to let you know since we last "spoke" about this, about 15 more apps of mine downloaded. So it is definitely moving! I was concerned that something had crashed in the background and that my apps were simply in limbo. But I am feeling better about this. :D

That's good. Mine still won't download. Ah well. I'll keep trying!

Thanks.

Same Here

I had the same thing happen this afternoon/evening...I downloaded a lot of apps, and many were just sitting "waiting"...then all came through. Then, when I was trying to use some, many of them that needed an internet connection wouldn't do anything at all, or would say that I wasn't connected to the internet, even though I was. Then, a bit later, they all started working just fine. Not sure what I did or didn't do, but it worked, so now I'm good to go! So exciting for an old fart like me to get a new toy and enter the world of the iPad!

I think your problem is that you are downloading something in the background, such as music or podcasts. That was my problem. I initially downloaded my music from the cloud and then gave up on that and just synced all my music (I didn't realize you can sync your music and then turn on iTunes Match. The first time I used Match that didn't work). So my iPad continued to try and download all my music, despite the fact that I turned Match off and had all my music on the device. Try going into the iTunes app and checking out the Downloads tab to see if other things are downloading.

In-app purchases not downloading

I didn't have any problems downloading my apps, but my games all show me as not having played before (even where, in the GameCenter, I have achievements). That's annoying enough, but in games where I have in-app purchases, they are missing. Do I have to purchase them all over again or is there some way to get those to match the status in my old iPad 1?

It will remember your in game purchase. It will give you an already purchased message when you click on it.

Most games that I play with in game purchase option also have an option to "restore" purchases in case you need to reinstall etc. You could always backup your iPad1 and restore the new iPad with that backup.
