After updating the iPhone to iOS 26.6, none of the 3rd party apps are opening, only Apple apps are working. I have tried restarting the iPhone but that hasn't resolved it.
Can anyone please suggest how to fix this issue? Is restoring iPhone again the only option?

Are you using Screen Time App limits? Is the phone a company phone that are MDM so that your coompany can choose to change (i.e block apps) how the phone operates?
Check the "app limits" setting in the screen time app just to make sure it isn't enabled.

I have the same issue. I have now turned off all screentime restrictions and rebooted a few times but the issue remains

Sounds like there is room for a 26.6.1 release soon.
Guessing now but maybe it could be an idea to enable the screen time restrictions again, mess around a bit and then disable it. Just to see if it triggers anything.

Found this on Apples site.

I do not have an answer and am interested to see what the fix is.

I updated my iPhone 17 yesterday and everything is running smoothly. I am curious what phones people are running that are having issues.

This happened to me - iPhone 17 pro.

The apps (3rd party only) would appear to open then immediately close. Some would be open when i checked to see open tabs, but never fully open.

I picked one (audible) and deleted it and reinstalled from app store and now the rest open fine. Not sure what that means, but it fixed it for me.

Posting a solution that has worked since it will help others who faced similar issue:

I offloaded one app from Settings -> General -> iPhone Storage and then reinstalled it just by clicking it's icon on the Home Screen. After reinstalling that one app, all 3rd party apps work now.

I turned off all screentime limits and that didn’t help. However the following day - 2 days after I made the update - everything started working again. Not sure whether it was linked to turning off the limits.

I am curious whether everyone who has had the problem had some screentime limits set?

You just need to update the apps from the App Store. People reporting it working after a couple of days etc are just because apps auto updated by then.

Just signed up for this forum to reply because this is the only thing that has worked for me! Thank you so much!

Created an account just to say that this problem happened to me just today, and that this solution worked for me as well. lol so weird. Thanks for the fix!

This also worked for me.

Things that did not work:
  1. Restarting phone
  2. All apps updated manually
  3. Turning screen time on and off
  4. Signing out and back into the App Store
The only thing that worked was offloading one app and then reinstalling. Then all 3rd party apps worked again.

I also had this problem on my wife's iPhone 16 Pro Max.

After restarting iPhone and signing out and back into the App Store. The problem was not fixed.

I then manually updated the apps and the problem was fixed.

Note that I do a manual update of mine and my wife's iPhones every morning. So there were only 2 apps to update when I did do the update. So I am not sure if it was the sequence of all the actions (restarting the iPhone, signing out of App Store, updating the apps) or just the last action that fixed the problem.

Also note that I did not do anything with screen time.

Friday, I did a restore as new on my iPhone 17 Pro and have had this issue repeatedly - I’ve uninstalled a third party app as suggested, the issue is resolved for a period of time and then it returns; uninstall and reinstall a third party app and apps open fine until they don’t.

Try offloading a 3rd-party app instead of uninstalling it and then reinstall it by clicking on it's icon on the Home Screen.

My screen is “redesigned” and apps have been moved around so now I can’t find half of them.

Spotify doesn’t show on the locked screen so now I have to open the phone and go to the app to forward to new song.

There’s constantly a black bar on the bottom of the locked screen.

It doesn't sound like you have the same issues like the others in this thread. Have you tried a forced restart? (volume up, volume down and then hold the lock button (right hand side) for about 30 seconds untill the phone restarts?
