Hi all,

When I go through "About This Mac" and select memory, it tells me my applications are taking up over 90gb of space. But when I right click on the Applications folder and go to "Get Info" it says it is less than 9gb. Anyone know how to go about fixing this?

Thanks

249.2 - 159.29 = 89.91

You are actually using only 89.91 GB of your disk, which is less than the Apps bar says. The colored bars are not accurate and sometimes are way out of whack.

That graphic gets its info from the Spotlight index and when the index is corrupt the numbers will be off like yours is.

Run the command below in Terminal and wait for Spotlight to reindex and that should fix it.

Code:
sudo mdutil -E /

I remembered seeing a post by Weaselboy on a couple of threads where he gave a command to have spotlight reindex itself, which should I believe update that image as well. Open up a terminal window and type it in, you'll also have to enter your password when prompted. The command is as follows
Code:
sudo mdutil -E /

The one thread I found again where he had posted that and I learned of its existence is 1794175.

Hope this helps

---------- EDIT ----------

It appears that he came and shared his wisdom on his own before I was able to track it down. Anyways, best of luck
