I find it highly annoying that the dev's weren't ready for iOS 8. It seems like the ones heavy in the Apple system were first, but barely.

The developers had plenty of time with the ios 8 betas that they should have been ready for ios 8... And a great deal of them were. However, like I said above, apple gave them almost no time to get ready for the new iPhones. Its apple's fault that all the apps are stretched.

People who are happy with the bigger UI should try out the zoomed mode in the Display and Brightness preferrences.

Optimisation to support the higher res of the 6+ screen cant come quickly enough for me. The scaling works well, and better than the zoom that we had when the change to retina was made, but at the moment it feels like anyone walking past me could easily read everything I am on the like of Facebook because the font is so big!

Those that have been updated (Tumblr being one I use) look great, although i still hope they now push on from this to develop interesting ways to use the extra space.

I guess we just have to be patient :(

It took a while before we saw a lot of iPad apps/apps updated for iPad because of the drastic size difference.

Even a lot of iOS 7 apps took a while before they saw an update.

The move to the 5 wasn't difficult because the only thing that had changed was height, but here the entire display is different. It'll still take some time, but most apps will have been updated within the next month I believe.

Is it possible for someone to upload a screenshot of an app optimized vs. unoptimized? I won't have my 6 Plus for another week (or so) and would really like to see the difference.

Please and thank you!

i have a quick question maybe someone can help. What do you guys mean by optimized? when i use fb on my iPhone 6 it looks larger and good on the iPhone 6. By optimized does that mean that the font and size will be smaller even for instagram, because i kind of like how big all the fonts look. not sure if that made sense.

you can adjust your font/type size in settings.

When I first opened FB I thought "holy cow, the text is going to be huge in apps now...but then realized the status bar/top bar looked bigger too and when exiting the app, it shrunk back down.

No they're not.

Yes they are.

It's incredibly easy to spot the difference too. If your eyes don't immediately see the "fuzziness" of a zoomed app, just compare the size of your status bar within an app, to the size it is on your home screen.

Flipboard is abolutely not optimized for the high resolution 6+. It might look fine to most people on the 4.7 iPhone 6 though, since that's not a huge resolution jump from the iphone 5s and earlier. Very very few apps take advantage of the 6+ 1080p resolution. Twitter is one of the few popular apps I've seen. Apples native apps are almost all updated, but some of their downloadable apps are not - apple store app for example. Just compare the status bar size (if you are on a 6+).

Hey toptekjon,

is that too hard for you to understand.

Apps that ARE OPTIMIZED are identified as such and apps that aren't optimized are not.

GET IT?

Almost 1000 apps are already updated for iPhone 6 and 6 Plus and are not zoomed.

You're an idiot, and rude. Someone who knows what they're talking about tries to help you, and you call them "slow". Clearly, anyone in this thread with technical knowledge will know who the slow one is.

A developer can say their app is optimized for iPhone 6 and 6+, that does not in any way guarantee that they are running at NATIVE resolution. A term you are clearly unfamiliar with. They are "optimized" according to the developers, but that only means they've been tested on the new iphones, at best. It DOES NOT mean they run at full 1080p natively on the iphone 6+.

Use your own eyes and you'll see the very obvious difference. Or, maybe you won't since you are very clearly more than "a little slow".

Everything you just said is wrong.

If it is marked as "Optimized for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus" it takes advantage of every pixel.

If it is not marked as such, it will not.

Pretty simple actually.

p.s. Developers can claim anything they want in their own update release notes BUT NOT in the App Store Information - that is checked BY APPLE.

You're a lost cause. Enjoy you're ignorance blissfully sir!

He's actually correct. If you want to prove him wrong then find an app that says that it's optimized for the iPhone 6 and 6 plus that still scales up when you run it. You won't be able to.

So I take it the latest Tweetbot 3 is not optimized for iOS 8 and has that glitch as it goes full screen?

Not yet. 3.5 is coming soon. Twitterific has been updated though, if you want to use that in the meantime.

Of my apps, only American Airlines, Anylist, and StarWalk have been updated. Instacast's update has supposedly been submitted and Skype's is coming within the next month.

I think most developers want to test the apps on actual devices, and that's hard with the Plus in short supply.

I searched for iPhone 6 but although some have been updated for iPhone 6 (flipboard for example) are still the old resolution, so there goes that theory.

I've just been using the Facebook mobile site. Seems to work almost like a native app anyway. You just don't get the pretty iOS 7-style look.

Also, bookmarks you place on your homepage - if they load on their own outside of Safari - are able to use the faster JavaScript engine now, not just the purposely gimped JavaScript engine.

I was looking at Facebook last night on my Plus, showed my wife, and she said "my grandparents would love this phone" (because it was blown up for people with poor eyesight).

Paprika -- a recipe app -- has been updated.

Rather than showing about 5.5 recipes per page on a 5, it shows 8 on the 6+.

RunKeeper was just updated. Takes advantage of the 4.7" display and looks much better. Not sure how it looks on the iPhone 6+.

Dev's!! come on!! send updates already!!

Some of the app's like Facebook, Insta, Whats App are ridiculously looking low quality. Agree it may help some folks who like bigger fonts, but until they are optimized and have a real smooth User interface, iPhone's are no good. Rather taking a big slack from Android users.

Funny, how long they are taking to send optimized versions of their App's.

Its been 15 days already. They need to do better than this!!!

they could easily have the apps ready for facebook, instagram, twitter, etc. that are iphone 6 optimized they are just waiting for approval.. probably still a lot of apps apple still has to go through.
