It's kinda frustrating that my non apple exercise apps just display a blured out screen and "the time" when the watch face isn't active.

I was really looking forward to seeing my speed and trip info on Strava without having to take my hand off the handlebar on my bike.
 
Disappointingly yes, it's the same for Nike Run Club. I just get the time when running.

I think this probably deserves more attention than it's getting (none).

I upgraded from a S3 to the 5. The AOD wasn't a bi deal for me so I returned it to apple and bought a refurbished series 4.

why did you get the 5 in the first place then? Also not really relevant

The point is there are lot's of fitness apps on Apple Watch that aren't made by apple, and it seems like they don't have the option (or haven't developed) an Always on version of those apps.

So if you're riding your bike, surfing, hiking, running using 3rd party watch apps, your stuck not being apple to use S5 number 1 new feature.

Completely agree. Maybe next year in 7.0 we see something like this. I hope so.
