iPod touch Apps to web and back...

Have a really stupid question concerning ipod touch apps. If you're running an app and it requires you to access the web, is there a way to go back to the app without restarting it?

I don't think so. It seems to me that that would have to be built into Safari. Or the OS. Or the Web site?
