it looks like apple is releasing apps updated for ios 4.o

fandango was just updated for ios 4.0 - when you multi task with it - i still needs to download the list of movies but it remembers where you were - so if you on the top box office tab - it goes right to that tab and downloads the list of movies.

Not really, it is supposed to suspend where it was, instead it remembers but still has to reload everything.

I hope multitasking isn't as bad as it is with Fandango, if it was indeed added. It still opens, but loads on the tab you were on before. That isn't really multitasking...

the ny times app has just been updated - it works well - if you're reading an article and jump out then go back it starts immediately where you left off no re-loading.

I think it comes down to implementation, many apps that access internet resources directly will likely reload those resources on unfreezing to ensure they're current.

Eg, sword of fargoal which got updated seems to unfreeze just fine, I just returned to it, and still on screen I left it at last night.

To be fair, ios4 doesn't really offer real multitasking. They're doing the best they can with the lousy system Apple gave them.

Fandango can do more, but they needed to get this update out to prevent it from crashing on iOS4 on launch.

ESPN and LinkedIn updated. LinkedIn is working really well with the multitasking fast switching now and ESPN uses it but barely. It kind of goes back but then has to immediately refresh anyway. The only part it skips is the initial ESPN loading screen, but the app crashes sometimes from the new update.
