Apps while traveling

Any suggestions for long plane rides and traveling overseas?

GlobeMater: Offline Travel Guide & Utilities (iTunes link) is one of my favorite apps to have around when traveling abroad, especially to someplace new.

Accuweather tells you the weather where you are. It takes a GPS reading every time you start it up (if you allow it to)

they seem to dedicate lots of space on their previews to "safety". What about actual advice on where to stay. how is is listed? is this as useful as a lonely planet?
