Other than winterboard, nes and snes, what apps are really worth jailbreaking for? My old iphone was jailbroken and i couldn't live without it, but the novelty has worn off and i dont see the 2.0 firmware worth jailbreaking.

(ps. ive already jailbroken the 2.0 firmware once and restored it after 24hrs because it was clearly running slower)

and if there's something like netshare on there can someone let me know? i missed the opportunity to buy it from the app store.

You'll laugh at this, but one of the apps I jailbroke my phone for was the flashlight. All the apple flashlights are not allowed to turn the brightness up. Apple really needs to rethink their app store requirements.

'something like netshare' would just be using that free proxy app via cydia. a little harder to set up but works just the same.

as for apps worth jailbreaking for? please remember that fw 2.0 is still relatively new. as for speed difference between jb and non-jb firmware i don't notice a difference at all?

but so far i couldn't live without

ssh'ing in general (mostly so i can keep backups of certain files/settings seeing as itunes backup COMPLETELY fails for me all the time)
    winterboard
intelliscreen 2.02 (definitely less issues than 2.01)
    bossprefs
    mxtube
    [snip]

i'm anxiously awaiting the Categories app by bigboss that lets you group icons into 'folders'. i hate having 5-6 pages of apps to scroll through.

i'm not really into games so i dont care about nes emulators and all that nonsense.

IntelliScreen alone makes jailbreaking worthwhile for me.

Definitely intelliscreen. If only apple would integrate this into their firmware (should already be built in), or they would change the app store rules for certain developers.

The pickings are really slim for 2.0 so far, but I do like themes with Winterboard and the free tethering.

For me the ability to customize the phone to my needs appearance wise is HUGE. I am coming from a Blackberry world where RIM released a theme builder and from that standpoint made things in the users hands. If Apple would do the same thing I would think a great deal of people would not use the JB method at all.

Winterboard alone makes it worth using for me right now, but soon I will be in a 3G area so the tethering will be very worthwhile, and I am going to have to try intelliscreen sometime soon. I also like quake4iphone and nes :p even though I haven't figured out how to save in quake4iphone. . . and nes has a bit of delay, but I am hoping a lot more apps come out soon.

So true. It is pretty much the only reason why I JB my 3G.

actually, that really pisses me off about the app store flashlight apps. i keep my brightness down to conserve battery so the flashlight sucks unless i go into the settings and change the brightness each time.

Please stop discussing download cracked versions of apps, so that the thread can continue peacefully without us closing it. ;)

I think the best thing to jailbreak for was the netshare way. I own a the real deal from AppStore, but it does not work as good. Right now all I do is connect to the Tether Network, open terminal and type socks, and im done. If I run Insomnia I can lock the phone and still surf on my computer. Since they fixed the coverage in my area I surf at 2.6 Mbit out of 3.6, decent enough for just having 2 bars on my 3G :)
