AppStore notifications

Clicking on an AppStore notification just dismisses the notification. It doesn't install the updates or even launch the AppStore application. Is something broken on my Mac or is this normal?

Hmm do you have Auto Update Enabled? I have mine enabled and it just does it on its own for me so I don't see the notifications.

I understand. No, I don't want auto update. I prefer to choose what and when to update.
