Seems that Apple COO Tim Cook is still running the show at Apple with Steve Jobs is out. And Tim Cook is a VZW guy, who prefers quiet
unhyped product launches, allowing the product to sell itself like when he launched the VZW iphone and ipad2. Jobs prefers months of lots of hype until the product arrives. Seems Tim Cook will launch the white iphone the same way he launched the vzw iphone and ipad2, very unhyped launch, allowing the product to speak for it's self.

Advantages of the white iPhone 4:
- white reflects light more than black so it doesn't get as hot using it in the car
- doesn't show fingerprints like the black version does
- doesn't show scratches like the black version does
- less common so better resale value
- personally, looks alot better imo since I don't use a case

Once you go white you know its just right ;)

Cool, about time for those who were wanting a white one.
I was on the edge on whether I'd go white, but with that new proximity sensor, hell no. :)

Except Tim Cook didn't announce the iPad 2.

Also, Best Buy has been wrong on several occasions. They go off of rumors.

New proximity sensor? You mean, since they removed the metallic grating they lost your business?

I dont know, I think white will get dirty easier and turn to ugly yellowish color. The scratches will still show I think.

i was thinking that the color might fade over time too. Then i remembered that the white paint is under the glass so it shouldn't make a difference and shouldn't fade over time. Scratches will still show but since its white, the scratch will blend in making it harder to see. Thats just my opinion iono.

True, I didnt think of that.
Unlike the older iphones with the white plastic back this time the paint is under the glass to protect it from fading and discoloration.

Pretty much, yeah. I don't like the way it looks now.

Currently I own a Black iPhone 4 and still have about 15 months on my contract...but if I wanted a White iPhone 4, can I purchase it contract free ($700) and sell my current black and just switch my sim card out? If so, I'm getting the white one.

Yep. At&t doesn't care what you do with the phone as long as you're paying for voice and data (if you're using an smartphone) for the rest of your contract.

Or could buy a kit for a hell of a lot cheaper
