I used to really enjoy that ability with my JB iPhones

That was before my time. But if you search for a list of alternative stores some look very suspicous and you need to install a profile before you are able to use it. The Home Screen icon is also just a link to a website. I think I don't try those on my main phone.

So @ju3rg could be right if someone who has no clue and is searching for alternative stores.

I’m just curious, has anyone actually tried this? Anyone from the EU of course.
Even for being quite niche and not even popular over on android where it’s always been available in some form, there is shockingly little content out there of people actually using one of these alternative stores.
And they have been available for almost a year. Plenty of EU based YouTube channels and websites.
Yet almost all of the content about side loading that exists for iOS is either old workarounds or news coverage.
million and millions are using the alt apps stores... there's testimonials, endless testimonials...

it's niche thing at best.
the baloney about what it was going to do has amounted to very little.
no one, including serial whinger Epic, have claimed big wins.

It woul dbe great to see some hard data on installs and app purchases ;)

This would be an excellent reason NOT to use any of the apps you develop.
Im sorry but I don't want to keep my servers working for 2 major versions behind. I'd rather move on and focus on the future. If I remove a feature, it's also for a good reason, but I will actively work on bringing it back asap.

If the next version will drop a software version, then the app will continue to work on the dropped version.

Good to see this. Not expecting to see this outside EU anytime now. Besides not sure whether I will install games from 3rd party stores even if it were available.

⚠️This is alerting me as a developer to see if I can add time bombs to my apps. I do not want my apps to be used like this and I want everyone on the latest version.
Then make the latest version not be full of new bugs, be available on old computers (or old smartphones), have all the functions of the old versions, etc.

Got to update the app to latest ad technologies as users find ways around ads in current app version.

Would love to download old apps. Every time I get a new device, I lose a few my apps. Apple teases by putting a cloud logo on the app but when you touch it you get an error from the app store that it is no longer available. I also recently upgraded a game app and it went from ad free to loaded with ads.

Yes, I have installed all three alternative app stores so far: Alt Store PAL (which I also paid for twice), Epic Games and now Aptoide.

Well, I could play Lego Fortnite on my iDevices, but I don't because I got bored of the game after a few months on Playstation and PC.

I scrolled through Aptoide and didn't find any interesting games. But I no longer play on my phone.

The only useful app is Hot Tub, as long as it is free and has no ads.

I think only that kind of apps that aren't allowed in the Apple App Store and big games like Fortnite will survive long term in alternative app stores, because it's not really worth the effort for developers of other apps.
Or maybe after the US invades Denmark, the EU will impose tariffs on apps from the US-based Apple App Store, then maybe alternative EU-based app stores will become popular.
