AR Face Anchor - iPhone 8

It could be as simple as better facial recognition of all those in photos. I'm surprised it is as good as it is today without fancy IR sensors...

Yes but that doesn't quite explain the AR portion of it

Seems like they will use the tech to anchor your face in AR (if you take the words literally) and I'm trying to wrap my head around what that actually means...

It's just a more advanced method of recognizing versus the "2D" photo method used today...so expressions will have less of an effect on reliability as it does in 2D photo versions.

I bet they will have some pretty cool mask or face change apps for it. background chaneg as well... lots of possibilities here.
