Just finish playing a few games using my Xbox One controller. I'm disappointed in the controls. I would have thought developers would have had the button mapping perfect. Some games I've play do have it mapped near perfect.

Most of the games I tried feel slightly sluggish, but definitely playable, and I really enjoyed several games like Agent Intercept and Super Impossible Road (which is the most responsive game I played yet).

The two worst games I tried was Skate City (BORING!!!) and Punch Planet (Can they fight any slower).

I still haven't played most of the games available, so it's too early to judge whether I'll stayed subscribed after the free trial. But so far it's looking like I might cancel.

Tried it last night and I’m totally unimpressed. Even on Apple TV4K, performance in some games is sluggish, the Xbox one controller frequently needs to be reconnected, and there’s no easy way to quit back to the main screen.

I would think that the ATV would be the best platform for playing these games, but it only highlights the limitations of mobile games on a larger screen. I’ve had better experiences playing android TV games on my SHIELD TV.
Just want to echo the comments about crap performance/lag on ATV4k for games w/ controller.

This experience needs new hardware that's built to be a powerhouse for gaming.
Honestly, Apple should make their own controller and bundle it with a new high end ATV Gaming model.

But - please let someone other than Apple actually design the controller.

I fear an Apple designed one would be uncomfortable, "thin" and made of glass and steel thus needing a case to be functional and enjoyable. Sigh..

Thanks. I use a Nimbus controller when AT4 first came out.

Some of my favorite games are on the AT4 - Battle Supremacy: Evolution and AG Drive. But that Nimbus controller is a bit "wonkey" and doesn't quite work consistently - disappointed. Terrible controlling it on an iPad.

Was hoping iOS 13 would fix things - and Arcade would be better.

I guess not.

On an awesome note - Battle Supremacy: Evolution came out for the Switch and it is great with the Nintendo Controllers!

I am hoping for AG Drive but that Developer seems to be gone now (or onto other things). :(

I have the opposite problem. After the latest tvOS upgrade the Arcade icon appeared on my home screen. I don't want it, I don't want to see it, I will never subscribe to this service. But I can't get rid of it. There's no delete option.
I hate Apple's intrusive way of promoting this thing.

I just pushed it all the way to the bottom... ;)

Have you tried updating the Nimbus software using the Nimbus app on iOS?

I use it on AppleTV...

Yes I understand that, but there’s an app on iOS where you can update the controllers software

My Nimbus with the games I tried on AppleTV on tvOS (namely, Battle Supremacy: Evolution) seems to work a whole lot better and buttons finally mapped properly on the games more consistently...

Guess they really had to get the controllers working properly in order for people to sign up for Apple Arcade.

I just go in a loop, subscribe to arcades, signed into Game Center, restarted the ATV 4. When I go to try a game, it says, already subscribed manage your subscription.
Can’t download any game.
I’m DL'ing 13.2 beta Maybe a bug.
works on my iPad no problem, same account.

I'm having the same issue. I know I'm already subscribed. Now I want to use that subscription!

Something to be aware of: I know they tout the latest TVOS as supporting multiple users. However, GameCenter and iCloud must be logged-into manually. Otherwise, it stays on the same iCloud and GameCenter profile for all users. This is problematic, especially since my kids and I play the same games, and their progress gets saved to my GameCenter profile, not their own.

Yes - if that isn’t one of the biggest oversights, I don’t know what is. How could they not anticipate we need a quick/easy way to switch amongst users, so various family members can have their own game saves, etc?

I'm on the same boat.

I'm interested in Apple Arcade and have a 4th Generation Apple TV + a Nimbus controller.
Works great with pretty much all the games I've tired in the Apple TV App store (that support a controller).

I'm more into light gaming so mostly 2D games; but I have Asphalt 8 and I'm amazed how well it plays with my set up.... but that's my experience. Haven't tried any Apple Arcade games so not sure (from reading other people comments) if I would be totally disappointed.

Will all games be unplayable or a couple of them..? Also interested on trying Ocean Horn 2 (among others)...

I'm not against buying a new Apple TV but wondering if I can hold on to my 4th generation and have fun until the new one arrives, this or maybe next year (and skip the 4K one). I don't even have any 4K TVs at home....

Any 4th Generation Apple TV users out there ?

Apple Arcade is now definitely out for tvOS 13’s Golden Master. Just saw the below video on YouTube. I’ve bought a DualShock 4 v2 in preparation, but slightly concerned how these games will run on my Apple TV 4th Geneation with its slow A8. Definitely not going to upgrade to a 4K though so late in its product cycle. I’m particularly looking forward to Oceanhorn 2, Inmost and Beyond a Steel Sky.

Playing Oceanhorn 2 on 4th Gen (HD) right now and it’s laggy as hell. Would definitely recommend the 4K with A10x for this game but I just can’t justify upgrading this late in its product cycle.

Oceanhorn 2 is mostly 30fps 1080p on an ATV4K, but larger more open areas have serious frame rate issues.

The ATV, if it's to be taken seriously as a gaming platform needs much more performance and storage. Frankly a Nintendo Switch blows it away at present, and the likes of the PS5 will clearly be in a different dimension entirely.

maybe the controller connectivity issues are down to bad antenna design. my appletv is just as far from my controller as my ps4, but the connection is much worse. i hope the‘ll fix that with the next hardware revision.

also there‘s noticeable lag sometimes, and some games stutter from time to time (also on the ipad - not enough ram?). apart from that, icloud sync doesn‘t always work, changing gamecenter accounts seems to be a nightmare (not my problem as my kid is still too young for videogames), and most games are just short, casual games. using a controller for a 1 button runner feels like a joke.

it‘s still early, and i hope they‘ll work on that. i mean, they got mark bozon talking over the ads, that‘s the ex nintendo-guy of ign. i‘m sure he knows about the importance of tight controls and accessibility. the potential is there, and has been there for years - but games on ios have been stagnating for years as well. now they‘ve finally taken a big leap forward, but it still feels a little half-a$$ed.
