So, I'm running Tiger on my MBP, and I have a partition of Windows XP installed. However, as you may know, the Boot Camp Assistant on Tiger has expired.

I was thinking of archiving and installing OSX, as I hear that it is recommended once in a blue moon (I have not done so at all, and I got my MBP in August of 06). I feel like the computer's just a tad rusty and could benefit from being cleaned out.

Now, will archiving and installing severely screw up my Windows partition? Or can I archive and install and not worry about the Windows partition at all? I'm worried because at some point I will remove the partition (currently playing Half Life 2 for the first time), but for now I want to keep it. Does anyone have experience with this?

Basically, will it affect the partition or not? If it doesn't, I'd be back where I am right now anyway. If it does, I won't be able to reinstall Windows unless I got Leopard, which I don't plan on doing until they iron out issues I've been hearing about.

EDIT: I realized I posted in the wrong forum so I put a note in the other thread and posted here.

Nothing will happen to it. I just did it and the archive and install did NOT touch my Windoze partition.

yep windows is installed on another partition that Boot Camp Assistant makes. when you select a partition/hard drive to isntall Tiger on the windows partition wont even be listed as its either FAT or NTFS format which you cant even install OS X on.

you are 100% safe.
