I'm so fed up with my airport dropping in 10.5.2, that I'm planning on reinstalling OS X.

How does Archive and Install work? I hear it will move my existing system into a 'previous system' folder. So can I just copy applications and documents I need from the previous system folder and then just delete it to recover the space?

It'll move it all over for you. It keeps you existing system there, and then installs a new OS X next to it, then moves everything from your "Previous System" folder (that it creates) for you. However, a couple things you may want to get will be to grab iTunes from your "Previous Systems" folder afterward, and maybe Quicktime, etc. if you have the latest updates and don't want to download them again. Archive and Install won't bring those over since they're part of the new OS X installation.
