I had to archive and reinstall Panther and am not sure what to do with my old system. I don't think it's used by anything and wanted some input on whether it's ok/ not ok to delete it.

Thanks

I'm pretty sure its okay i had to do an archive and install when i moved to panther but i wouldn't delete it for a while just to be sure you got everything out of the old sytem that you used like screen savers. And plugins to other apps that might not have been already moved. by the install

I usually delete them almost immediately since it's almost impossible to move all the little bits of device drivers and easier to just use the installer.

As long as the short name is the same you can just drag over the contents of your old home folder (there's always problems if you check preserve user settings). I prefer to move everything manually over. I did two archive and installs and a clean install yesterday. The only difference is that the archive deletes the System, Library, and User folders while clean deletes all the hidden stuff too.
