What is your strategy for archiving email? Gmail has been the only effective method I’ve known.

With Gmail, I can pull all of my emails into Mac Mail, Outlook, or another client. But those clients seem to be proprietary mail archive formats, so if they corrupt the archive or upgrade to a version which doesn’t support my archive format, I’m out of luck.

Just curious how people maintain and preserve their old emails.

I do two things one being exporting to mbox file the other that I just got was an app $3 that will run through your email folders and export pdfs. Not on my laptop or id tell you the name

Really like having all my receipts as pdfs. I’ve now processed most past years folders of hundreds

You do need to group and batch rename to control chaos and careful that pdf attachments get included I’ve noticed some don’t (most likely user error)

I don’t, it’s just clutter, like keeping stuff in boxes in the garage for years … important emails I might keep for a year but then it needs to go
