I have captured a few digital 8 tapes and would like to archive the .mov files for future use. On one tape, I have a birthday party, then it goes to a camping trip right afterwards, I'd like to cut the main hour long .mov into 2 separate .mov files. What's the best setting to use on export so I don't lose any quality? Will the Export> Quicktime Movie be just find to use or is there another way I should be doing this? Just want to get it right before I capture 30 more hours of video. :D Thanks in advanced!

Steven

Export (Export > Quicktime Movie...) using the same settings the file you're splitting is. Make sure "Recompress All Frames" is unchecked. FinalCut Pro will not re-compress your movie since it is already compressed to the proper settings.
