Can I use the snow leopard install discs that came with a 2011 Macbook Pro to install SL on a 2010 macbook pro?

Do the discs distinguish between years? Do they distinguish between the 13", 15", and 17" as well?

So far I did a hard drive swap and put my 2011 macbook pro 13" (original) into a 2010 15" MBP. it worked plug and play but I'm not trusting it so I want to do a clean install. Only problem is, I only have access to the 2011 SL recovery discs, I believe they are 10.6.8 or 10.6.6. Would these work on my 2010 15"?

Trust me I did a search but when you start typing 2010 and 2011 and macbook pro, there are hardly any relevant searches.

The grey Restore DVDs are machine specific and cannot be used on other Mac models than the model they came with, even if they include a Mac OS X version newer than the one the Mac came with you want to install it to.
You can get replacement DVDs from Apple, or you could just clone a fresh install of the 2011 Restore DVDs to the 2011 MBPs to a 2010 MBP via Target Disk Mode.

Awesome thanks that helps!

Not quite true.

You cannot install a version of SL that is older than the machine. Hence, you couldn't use a disc from a 2009 MBP(I believe those had 10.6.3) but you could use one from a 2011 MBP(10.6.7).
